Glazed Japanese Carrots

Glazed Japanese carrots is a tasty vegetable dish that goes well with most things. They are quick to prepare and only a few ingredients are needed. Choose how crispy or soft you want your carrots and adjust the cooking time accordingly.


Glazed carrots
 

You will need

0, 8 lbs of carrots, peeled and sliced into 0.2-inch-thick slices

1 tbsp butter

2 tbsp of canola oil

1 ½ tbsp of granulated sugar

2 tbsp of dry sake or dry sherry

2 tbsp of Japanese soy sauce

Freshly ground black pepper

½ tsk rostade sesame seeds

½ tsp chopped parsley, finely chopped

 

How to make it

1. Heat up oil and butter in a frying pan. Add the carrots and fry them on high heat while stirring for about 1 minute.

2. Add granulated sugar and sake or sherry and stir so that everything mixes. Fry while stirring for 1–2 minutes until the liquid has evaporated.

3. Add soy sauce and fry while stirring for another 1–2 minutes until the liquid has evaporated or until the carrots have the consistency one likes.

2 tbsp of Japanese soy sauce


4. Turn once or twice on the pepper mill and mix.

Freshly ground black pepper


5. Serve topped with roasted sesame seeds and some chopped parsley (for the color).
